What we do
Provide a list of animal shelters and rescue organizations that are in immediate need of foster homes for their animals.
What we don’t do
Apply to foster for you. You’ll need to select the organization(s) you wish to apply to foster with and apply directly through their website.
Why we’re doing it
Many animal shelters with physical buildings had to close to the public and greatly reduce the number of staff and volunteers at their shelters. Dogs and cats in these shelters need to be placed in foster homes. The fact is, during this pandemic many more animals will end up euthanized because shelters are temporarily closed and rescue organizations are running on extremely limited resources. We want to reduce that euthanasia rate as much as possible. The more shelter pets that can be placed in foster homes, the more animal lives are saved!
What is fostering
Fostering is temporarily housing and caring for an animal that belongs to a rescue organization, while that animal is awaiting permanent adoption. Fostering is especially critical now as many animal shelters have limited staff on-site to care for animals due to social-distancing mandates. Many animal shelters are clearing the buildings and placing all their animals into foster homes during this pandemic. Each animal shelter/rescue organization will have their own standards, guidelines, rules, etc. Please apply directly with the rescue organization that you want to foster with.
